6 Reasons You Should Hire A Realtor®

As you begin your search for a real estate agent you might come across the term “Realtor®” in addition to “agents” and this can seem confusing if you don’t know the difference between the two. Generally, agents are licensed professionals in the real estate industry who help people sell and buy residential and commercial homes and/or properties. Agents have the option to become members of the NAR (also known as the National Association of Realtors®) and if they do they get the title of Realtor®.

So why should you work with a Realtor®? What is the benefit for you?

1. They are expert guides.

The amount of paperwork involved in selling a home is extensive, and it’s easy to lose track of getting the best deal if you are drowning in reports, forms, disclosures, and more which can be full of fine print and real estate jargon. Working with a Realtor® makes the process so much smoother since they are familiar with all the terms and the paperwork, and you can rest easy knowing that they will do everything in their power to get you the best deal possible.

2. Realtors® have marketing superpowers.

Most properties don’t sell from just their advertising. Many times, real estate sales are a direct result of a practitioner’s contact list like friends, family, and previous clients. So, when a Realtor® markets your property, you don’t have to start with a pool of strangers who want to see your home. The Realtor® can prescreen potential buyers for you as well and be there alongside those who qualify as they walk through your home or view your property.

3. They adhere to ethical codes.

Since they are part of the National Association of Realtors® (or NAR), Realtors® must comply with the code of ethics (which can be found online at the NAR website) to stay professional, protect you, and be honest with you with everything related to your real estate transaction.

4. Realtors® provide an objective point of view.

Realtors® have plenty of information about the local area including schools, zoning, utilities, and more. When you combine this with the objective information they have about properties, they can share data to help you determine if a particular home or property is the type you are looking for.

5. Realtors® have relevant experience.

While some agents might only sell a couple of homes during their career, Realtors® take care of hundreds of real estate transactions throughout the years. This keeps them constantly up to date on all laws and regulations that might change every year or so.

6. They have excellent negotiation skills.

There are several factors that must be considered during a real estate negotiation, and thankfully Realtors® are trained to see all kinds of different angles that you can use to your advantage. This can be especially helpful when it comes time to create a purchase agreement that still allows you to have some flexibility.
